Of all the coffee shops we visited Omotesando Coffee stood out as the most visually intriguing. (Part of Chalait's Tokyo Coffee Series)
Discretely located on a quiet side street and with no street signage to speak of finding it also proved to be the trickiest. The store is tucked away behind a private garden which serves to separate the charming, serene atmosphere within from the bustling Tokyo streets outside.
Once inside, the decor is classic Japanese minimalism, with straight lines, plain colors and sparingly decorated. That the single member of staff was also wearing white was likely no coincidence.
The menu lends itself to a more modern vibe, however with a full line of espresso drinks as well as various pour over selections. The solitary food offering was an incredible sounding baked custard cube. Unfortunately we didn't get to try this no doubt delectable cube as the last one of the day sold out to the customer in front of us! Life is not fair sometimes.
Alas we consoled ourselves with the sweetness of a delicious macchiato instead.
