Four Ways to Enjoy Matcha this Summer

Matcha is a versatile ingredient that is used not only in beverages but also in meals, desserts and smoothies. This Summer, try using your Matcha powder in ways that will cool you down and refresh you.

Whether you enjoy a Matcha drink to get your going in the morning or to cure the dreaded 3 pm slump, you will find that an Iced Matcha Latte is particularly refreshing in Summer. This icy cold drink is creamy and a little bit sweet, so tasty you would never know it was actually a superfood.

To make an Iced Matcha Latte at home you need the following: Ice, 1 cup Almond milk (or milk of choice), 1 teaspoon Matcha powder and maple syrup to taste. Create a paste with the matcha powder and some water. Add the paste, ice, milk and maple syrup into a lidded jar and shake to combine. Enjoy!

If you are out and about in NY and are craving this icy treat, pop into a Chalait cafe for an Iced Matcha Latte made by the Matcha experts

Matcha Smoothie Bowl

Matcha Smoothie Bowl

A smoothie bowl goes down like a treat in the warmer months as it combines the refreshing flavours of in-season fruits with the crunch of nuts, seeds or granola. There is a lot to love about a Matcha smoothie bowl. It's tasty, packed with nutrients and will keep you powering through the morning.

Unlike a smoothie drink, the smoothie bowl is thicker with a range of textures that stimulate your senses. Because of the creamy taste and ice-cold temperature you could be easily mistaken for enjoying an ice cream dessert for breakfast.

The addition of Matcha to a smoothie bowl brings with it a subtle earthy flavour and a host of nutrients. Apart from its tasty flavour profile, Matcha is rich in antioxidants aiding to combat free radicals and inflammation within the body. Matcha also contains caffeine and L-theanine to help boost alertness and keep a focused mind.

To make your own Superfood Smoothie Bowl this Summer blend the following: 1 teaspoon Matcha Powder, 1 peeled sliced frozen banana, frozen berries, spinach, 1/2 cup of milk of choice. Top with coconut flakes, nuts, seeds or granola

If you're in New York, pop into a Chalait cafe for one of our signature Matcha Smoothie bowls. Ours include seasonal ingredients such as kale, avocado, banana, bee pollen, cacao nibs, chia seeds, fresh berries, peanut butter and of course, Matcha.

Matcha Ice Cream

Matcha ice cream has a vibrant green appearance and tastes wickedly good on a hot Summer afternoon. The complex flavours of Matcha bring a unique dimension to the popular Summertime treat, whilst adding a little pick-me-up.

If you do not own an ice cream machine, make the matcha custard and place in the freezer. Whisk the mixture every 30 minutes until it sets firms.
